Privacy Policy

Last updated: 2026-04-21

ThaiExplore ("we", "us") is an independent travel information site. This page explains what limited data we handle when you visit thaiexplore.com and your rights as a visitor. We've intentionally kept data collection to an absolute minimum.

1. Short version

  • We do not require an account or log in to read any page.
  • We do not run a newsletter, so we do not collect email addresses.
  • We do not set tracking cookies or advertising cookies.
  • We do not sell or share visitor data with third parties.
  • Our hosting provider and basic server logs record what is technically needed to serve a page (IP address, user agent, referrer). These logs are retained briefly and are used only for security and debugging.

2. Information we collect

2.1 Automatically collected server logs

When your browser requests a page, our hosting provider receives the following as part of the standard HTTP request:

  • IP address
  • User agent string (browser and device type)
  • Referring URL (the page you clicked from, if any)
  • Requested URL and HTTP status code
  • Timestamp of the request

These logs are kept for a short window for operational and security reasons (detecting abuse, debugging errors, monitoring uptime) and are deleted after no more than 30 days.

2.2 Cookies and local storage

ThaiExplore does not set any tracking, analytics, or advertising cookies. Our site does register a service worker for offline capability and faster loading — this uses browser storage (Cache API) purely to cache static assets on your own device and does not send data anywhere.

2.3 Third-party embeds

We may embed maps (for location context on destination pages). When a map loads, your browser communicates directly with that map provider, and their own privacy policy applies to that interaction. We keep such embeds minimal and prefer static maps wherever possible.

3. How we use information

We use server log data only to:

  • Deliver the page you requested.
  • Detect and mitigate abuse, spam, or attacks.
  • Understand which destinations visitors find most useful, in aggregate.
  • Fix technical issues (broken links, bad responses).

4. Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or trade visitor data. We share log data only with:

  • Our hosting and CDN providers, strictly to the extent needed to deliver the site.
  • Law-enforcement authorities, if legally compelled to do so.

5. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights under laws such as the EU GDPR, the UK GDPR, the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) or Thailand's Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA). These can include the right to request a copy of any personal data we hold about you, the right to correction, the right to erasure, and the right to object to processing.

Because we do not maintain visitor accounts or profiles, in most cases we do not hold identifiable personal data about you beyond short-lived server logs. If you believe we do, contact us at [email protected] and we'll respond within 30 days.

6. Children's privacy

ThaiExplore is intended for a general audience and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

7. Changes to this policy

If we make material changes to this policy we'll update the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, flag the change on the site. Continued use of the site after the update means you accept the revised policy.

8. Contact
